... except that it's from Kids in the Hall, a Canadian sketch comedy show from the '90s. This program is responsible for helping form a decent sized chunk of my sense of humor. (I also credit the Conan years of The Simpsons, early Family Guy, and Mike Judge's entire repertoire, FYI.)
Anyway, following is my favorite KITH short EVER.
Enjoy!

I think Taylor needs a hug.

This is my fave KITH skit, running a close second to "the two Cathys." I have tried to explain "Girl Drink Drunk" to friends, because I thought it was so hilarious, but now I can just send them to You Tube.
Jen, for the ultimate Girl Drink Drunkety Drunk, you must visit Hala Kahiki in River Grove, just south of O'Hare. The drinks are elaborate concoctions decorated with plastic orchids and umbrellas, or served in flaming bowls. But the best part is the decor - reminds you of your grandparents' Tahitian-themed basement circa 1970s. You gotta see it to believe it.....

My 3 and 5 year old boys enjoy "cwushing you head" to each other regularly. My job as a mom is complete.

Whoa -- Taylor -- harsh! Ease up on our girl Jen, huh? If you dislike her book so much, just send it my way -- I have tons of BFFs who would enjoy.... Cheers!

My all time favorite was the "little kid" - Gavin? - who would annoy grown-ups with stupid questions like, "If my head were made of veal, how much would it be worth?" I also love the one where the guy goes crazy because someone stole his pen. "My pen! He has my pen!" Between KITH and MTV's The State, I have developed a very warped yet fabulous sense of humor!

I was definitely girl-drink drunk last night. Kinda still am....
Posted by: KLM | April 20, 2008 at 09:01 AM
Also, you're far from a heroine! FAR FROM! You're more like that annoying fat girl in high school that thought wearing name brands and being mean would some how make her cool. Only in your world can you get away with being as mean as you are. My friends and I would have had you for lunch.
You're UGLY on the inside!
Posted by: Taylor | April 20, 2008 at 08:51 AM
Your book was the worst book I've ever read. You annoy me.
Posted by: Taylor | April 20, 2008 at 08:45 AM
I just went to the reunion show the other night in Boston - SO. AMAZING! (Go if you can. Seriously. Do not hesitate.) They were actually selling Girl Drink Drunk t-shirts, and I talked myself out of one because my boyfriend convinced me that we could find it on the internet. But no, they're not out there. I'm so, so mad at him now, heh.

I still walk around crushing people's heads...almost nobody understands which is so very sad. I heart KITH. Thanks Jen!

How can anyone NOT have KITH "Brain Candy" in their personal DVD library? Best EV!

As a Canadian it is almost mandatory to love KITH. I've even seen them live when they did their first tour about 8 years ago. My favourite sketch though is "eating my BA." The poor "kids" were starving because they had no jobs after acheiving their BA and the only thing they had to eat in the house was their perfectly framed and mounted BA's. As a "poor" BA holder myself I could relate beyond belief!

My husband has been known as the "Girl Drink Drunk" for years because of this! He always orders fruity, girly drinks. It's pretty funny to have servers bring us our orders. They almost always mess it up, putting the girl drink in front of me and the manly drink in front of him. We just smile and quietly switch them.

KITH is my favorite thing EVER!! How awesome. The Dr. Suess Bible is one of my favorites. :)

It took me an hour to watch this clip - start and stop while people walked around my office and I tried to hide the fact that I was watching You Tube. :)
I'm going to spend the weekend with fruity drinks and KITH.

Jenn, I thought that I was the only person who had ever seen this clip. I always reference this skit whenever a guy friend orders a girly drink, only to be met with blank stares. LOVE IT!!

OH. "Kids In The Hall". It doesn't get much better than that.
I'm happy to have stubbled across someone who not only loves the "Conan years of 'The Simpsons'", but also REFERS to those episodes as such. I thought that I was the only one who did that. Ha! :-D
Kudos...

I used to love that show and haven't thought about it in years! Off to hunt down more clips...

It's noon somewhere. I'm going to pull out my toothpick umbrella.

Awesome! I love KITH! One of my all time fave sketch comedy shows.
"These are the Dave's I know, I know. These are the Dave's I know!"

Thank God for Comedy Central re-runs of this show. I would've never fully understand the hilarity that are our neighbors to the north. Also just finished reading Bright Lights. Thank you so much for making me laugh out loud in the midsts of law school finals study crunchtime. Even if the other stuckup bitches gave me dirty looks in the library, it was so worth it.

I am totally a girl-drink drunk. My boyfriend is even more of one. Hmm...

the best part about the whole chicken fu*&er thingy, I quit cussing four years ago this February, so I felt like a naughty little monkey all cooped up in my car dropping the f-bomb like a rebellious 5th grader....
Posted by: Heather | April 17, 2008 at 11:55 PM
all of this being said about KITH....and all I can think of is the fact that I spent 5 hours on duty without a call, driving around downtown looking at restored vintage housing call my gay friend, that also works at my department(whom I made leave his office and ride around with me) a chickenfu&*er...and I laughed everytime I called him that, and I laughed...just now thinking of saying that word makes me laugh, I have no idea why that word is so freaking funny.....KITH didn't make me laugh near as much as saying that word out loud....just look at someone and call them a chickenfu*&er...I promise you, you are going to have a deep-belly laugh...

Jen, that is one of the best, but nothing beats "The Dr Seuss Bible". I nearly peed myself the first time I saw that one. And KITH live show cannot be missed. Sell your soul if you need to, but no fan should die without seeing them.
Posted by: erin | April 17, 2008 at 06:18 PM
KITH ROCKS...there is a show coming to Cleveland next month I believe...I'm hoping to go...

Few words: Chicken lady. Simon & Hecubus. "Having An Average Weekend" by Shadowy Men on a Shadowy Planet. Crushing your head. And Bellini.

I LOVE KITH. I loved the "I wanna Dip My Balls In it" one. I still use that phrase on a regular basis. 'Cause I am cool like that.

When I first saw the name Kids In the Hall before I even clicked on it I thought my favorite sketch of theirs is Girl Drink Drunk. That is too funny that it is yours too. The other ones I loved were the Ladies in the Office. I used to love watching it everytime I could catch it. It is nice to see other people appreciate it too. I never thought they got the credit they deserved. I have been renting the seasons from Blockbuster online but so far I am only through Season 1.

You never cease to showcase your impeccable taste. KITH got me through college. And, I'm going to see them tomorrow night. Yippy!!!

KITH?! CLASSIC!
My all time favorite is the one where they figure out they've been singing the wrong words to songs. HI-larious!
Thanks for making me laugh today!

My favorite KITH sketch was "Fuck the bank." Oh how I miss that show...my friends and I would watch and laugh so hard...love it! :)
Posted by: Kristi | April 17, 2008 at 10:33 AM
Hahaha!
Oh man, this brings back fond memories of high school! My friends and I would spend HOURS watching tape recordings of this show.
I feel proud and honoured that my country produced such a great classic...

Hilarious!
Rumor has it my hubby once ordered a pineapply lapu lapu and he has never lived it down. His buddies STILL bring it up. This happened 10+ years ago before I met him.

Hmm...clicking reveals, "We're sorry, this video is no longer available." Is it just my computer being stupid or did I miss the boat?
Posted by: Dave | April 17, 2008 at 09:29 AM
OMG! I love KITH. Thanks Jen for reminding me of one of the funniest things not on TV anymore. Now to see if I can add them to my Netflix...
Posted by: Becci | April 17, 2008 at 08:47 AM
I wish I could have a girl drink right now but it's only 6:30 a.m. I guess I'm not a proper girl drink drunk. I miss KITH.
Posted by: Mindy | April 17, 2008 at 08:46 AM
Jen, TKITH are actually touring! We're going to see them in DC in May!
Posted by: Annie | April 17, 2008 at 08:18 AM
Love Love Love KITH!!!! No wonder I love your wit so much! I kind of want a chocolate choo-choo now...it would probably go down smooth for breakfast and make me a lot more productive! HA HA!
Posted by: Rachel | April 17, 2008 at 07:44 AM
Lovin' it! Other fav though is Tina Fey's drunken calls to the co-op board on 30 Rock! Nothing like a glass of Red Wine while you jog on a treadmill!

Jen, your superb taste never fails to impress! (And I'm not just saying that because I'm Canadian).
Posted by: Nicole | April 17, 2008 at 07:21 AM
I have been thinking about this exact sketch for over a week. The phrase "girl-drink drunk" was stuck in my head, and I couldn't remember what it came from until my boyfriend reminded me. Then laughed for about ten minutes about the part where he explains how to make a Squash-Strawberry Alley Cat to his boss.

How much trouble could I get into with just one hand????
Posted by: Snelly | April 17, 2008 at 07:13 AM
I am soooo going to be late to work today. But it was so worth it! Some of those "girl drinks" looked pretty good! Chocolate Choo-Choo's, anyone?!
