My computer just died so I'm trying to type a post on Fletch's stupid Mac book WHICH I HATE SO MUCH and I can't tell if the problem is this stupid computer or if my stupid hosting platform Typepad is the problem. Regardless, everything's all screwy (and stupid) so this is going to be quick.
First, do me a proper and check out the trailer for this film:
http://www.thedukes-movie.com/
Not only am I totally in love with the concept - which looks like Ocean's Eleven meets The Sunshine Boys - but I'm all excited because I'm supposed to be on a panel with star Robert Davi next year. (It's a session within a whole weekend of sessions for a conservative PAC so I won't be talking about it here.)
What else? Oh, I'm told that the cover for Pretty in Plaid is up on Amazon now but I don't know how to open another browser on Mac to link to it BECAUSE I HATE IT AND REFUSE TO LEARN. Interested to hear what you think - about the cover, and not about my preference for PCs.
Finally, I'll post more details when I'm not on this devil machine, but if you're local, I'm doing an interview live from the Hideout on Dec. 5th. The host promises me it's not going to be an ambush like that one time I accidentally got booked on an ex-Black Panther's show because the radio publicist didn't understand that Bitter Is the New Black wasn't a book about race relations. Anyway, the Hideout is a bar and there's a five dollar cover charge and it should be fun.
Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to kick this stupid computer down a couple of flights of stairs.

My 5-
1. Dr.pepper-i lost close to 60lbs when I stoped drinking it and started eating better, but I couldn't stand to look or even here the sound of a bottle or can opener, untill I found out that I was having open heart surgery (I'm 19) and then I said fuck it, I'm back on the juice..

Please come down to Miami in May or whenever your tour starts. I'll bring friends. I'll bring cafe con leche and pastelitos. It's not stifling hot down here in May, but actually quite nice beach weather. Pleeeeaase?

Am I the only one that noticed the typo on Amazon's page?
Apparently Jen is egomanical, not egomaniacal.

It is cute. I have always really loved the metallic illustrations that usually appear on the covers, but variety is the spice of life eh.
I am beyond excited for the book to come out, and have put together little sets of the first three for my best friends Christmas presents!!!

The cover is very cute...love the pigeon-toe stance (I still stand like that when I'm nervous). I was thrown at first by the argyle...and at first I saw an optical illusion (like that one where it's either a vase or two faces looking at each other)...i thought it was a white tie on a green shirt with a wierd design around the tie. Then I saw it for real.

Love the book cover (and the choice in PCs)!

I work at Microsoft, and I speak for us all- Bless you for your PC love! In fact, if you felt like receiving some "I'm a PC" free swag, just drop me a line, and we can take care of that!
Love your writing, and have shared widely hereabouts!

I love the book cover. The argyle socks are too cute. Who gives a crap if they are not plaid like others are saying and it doesn't match the title. The title isn't "A Life, A Witch and a BURBERRY Wardrobe. I'm looking forward to the new book.
Is it May yet?
Posted by: Andrea Mooney | November 21, 2008 at 08:16 PM
Didn't you say you wore argyle while in the sowhority? ;) Sorry, I'm an ex-bitter-kappa. But I could have sworn I recently read that in one of your books. Maybe not? This one is about the sorority days, right?
Posted by: Sweet Herald | November 21, 2008 at 08:15 PM
Cover is adorable. Must go with the other fashionistas though...argyle is not plaid.
FYI for fellow Canadians, Amazon.ca also has the cover...

the cover is so cute, i love it.

I'm hoping not to be attacked, but ...
I guess I'm one of the few who's not loving the "Pretty In Plaid" cover. I think it makes it look like a novel for my 13 year old daughter, not for me. I love pink and green as much as anyone and the tights are adorable, but your earlier books have all had covers which conveyed the idea the books were for adults. This one, not so much. It reminds me a lot of the covers of all those "Clique" books my daughter is so crazy about. (http://www.amazon.com/Its-Easy-Being-Mean-Clique/dp/0316115053/ref=sr_1_8?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1227315874&sr=1-8)
When I envisioned in my mind what the cover of this new book might look like, I was expecting an illustration of a knife-pleated, plaid mini-skirt (just the skirt, no body inside, like the underwear on the cover of SAPF), maybe kind of kilt-looking, with a kilt pin that has pearls on it (because we all know how you LOVE pearls!), with a touch of metallic paint like the other covers. Definitely was not expecting a photo of skinny little pigeon-toed legs in argyle tights.
I'm sure the book will be terrific, though, and that you'll sell loads of them no matter WHAT the cover looks like!

Four Freaking books!! Congratulations to you!!! Can't wait for May.
Posted by: Tamara | November 21, 2008 at 06:47 PM
As the others are, I too, am confused on the argyle socks pretending to be plaid. But its still cute as ever. And I was VERY EXCITED that after typing "Pretty in Plaid" into the search bar thingie on Amazon, your book popped up, along with "Pretty in Plaid Barbie"! I hope you own that as to futher another sleep-barbie-ing incident.
To sum up... cute confusing cover, pre-ordered the book, refrained from purchasing Barbie. I is all growns up apparently!

I love the cover!!! I just devoured the first two books and think its time for Such a Pretty Fat. You're helping me to have a new appreciation for Chicago! Have a great weekend!
Posted by: Katie | November 21, 2008 at 06:01 PM
I don't like the "Plaid" cover -- looks like a hastily chosen file photo that myopic publishers would call "quirky."
Of course, I love my Macbook, so...
Posted by: amy g | November 21, 2008 at 05:56 PM
Maybe you should send something in to be in a "I'm a PC" commercial?

cute cover...seems appropriate for the content.
do you just have to pinch yourself sometimes about how great things have turned out for you? the cover saying "new york times best selling author..." that is amazing. i hope you snuggle up in that happiness tonight.
Posted by: michele | November 21, 2008 at 04:26 PM
I can't help but saying this - your hate of Mac just made my heart break inside. :(
(To open a new internet window, go to File -> New window, or press apple key + n. Also, you can right click by pressing control while clicking.)
Also, OMG THERE IS ARGYLE ON THE BOOK COVER!!! So cute!
Posted by: Kelsey | November 21, 2008 at 04:17 PM
Cute cover, but I would think you'd go with plaid vs. arglye...?
Posted by: Jen | November 21, 2008 at 04:15 PM
Love the new cover and CAN'T WAIT for the book in May. I hope you'll be doing another book tour and put Philly on your list of locations! Pretty please!!!!!

Also... shouldn't your web guru put your new cover on the Jennsylvania page with a link to pre-order at Amazon or wherever?
:D
Posted by: Soren | November 21, 2008 at 04:04 PM
Sorry about the Mac... I feel that way about palm vs stupid blackberry...
Love the book cover, love the title!
I want to get this in now, early, so you can't say we didn't say-- Please come to Toronto on your next book tour! It's close to Chicago, the exchange rate is in your favor, we have great shopping and WINE COUNTRY is an hour's drive away! :D
How are the dogs and cats settling into their new home?

Ok, I am dying to laugh again, so just looking at your book on Amazon was a tease - while I'm in a snit,I must ask, are the sox argyle or plaid or is argyle considered plaid?
Posted by: Kim M. | November 21, 2008 at 03:22 PM
Absolutely love the title, and I think I used to have stockings just like that.
Posted by: L. | November 21, 2008 at 03:11 PM
I love the cover and the title! I can't wait for the release of Pretty in Plaid! I think you should come to Des Moines on your next book tour. Would bribing you with Riesling help? Also? Macs are evil. Very evil
Posted by: Emily | November 21, 2008 at 03:11 PM
Wait, it says hardcover?!!??!
Jen, seriously. My #1 favorite thing about your books is that they come out in paperback. I never buy books until they come out in paperback. I am so sad.
Posted by: Jeni | November 21, 2008 at 02:53 PM
Not one commenter linked to it!?!?!?
Here it is! Love it!

Perhaps "Angry in Argyle"--
I love the cover, but I was envisioning an overlay of Ralph Lauren pink/ green/ & yellow plaid
May seems so far away--I want it now!!

Too bad Amazon spelled 'maniacal' wrong. WTF.
Posted by: Kathy | November 21, 2008 at 02:23 PM
1 - Love the cover, excited you've moved up to the hardcover world, but it'll mess up my pretty collection!
2 - Hate waiting until May.
Posted by: Brandi | November 21, 2008 at 01:59 PM
Love the cover, agree with previous thoughts on wishing it kept the same feel and look as the rest (especially since its now hardcover), it will throw off my jen collection. either way, still love it and i wish it came out sooner.
also, somebody else mentioned the barbie on the amazon search, i saw it and also started giggling. its like they know!
love your books, and constantly recommend them.
Posted by: Theresa | November 21, 2008 at 01:53 PM
Love the cover (and yes, they are argyle - but they are the cutest tights EVER)! Can't wait to read it...I'm jonesin' for more Jen!

Posted by: Lori | November 21, 2008 at 01:39 PM
1-I love the cover though to tell the truth doesn't matter what it looks like I'm preordering it and counting down to the release date.
2-Movie looks like something I'd enjoy so I'll try catching it.
3-Nordstrom's carries argyle sweater tights!

Just wanted to join everyone else in saying that I LOVE the new cover! You never disappoint!
Posted by: Brittany | November 21, 2008 at 01:31 PM
Just tried to preorder the new book on my Kindle but evidently it is not available. Now I have something to pout about. ;{
Posted by: derfina | November 21, 2008 at 01:27 PM
Um... isn't argyle just a plaid turned at 90 degrees?
I love the cover! And hardcover? That's big time! Woohoo! Can't wait to read it!
And so glad there's another PC person out there... I avoid MACs; PC's are intuitive to me!
