And no, you don't have to come in your '80s finest, but come on, how much more fun will that be?
Also, if you see any of the above information in conflict with what's listed at your local bookstore (e.g. event not yet listed for the BPL) or if I'm a dummy who can't properly copy an address, please me know.
Thanks and see you soon... in plaid!

Huntington Beach appearance has been on my calendar since you announced it. Glad to have it confirmed.
See you then and I'll dig out SOMETHING '80s for you...

See you in Huntersville!
Posted by: Megan Boggs | April 25, 2009 at 12:30 AM
Yeay... see you in Houston. WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE.
Posted by: Carrie | April 24, 2009 at 10:40 PM
Huntington Beach, baby! Surf City! I'll be wearing my finest Duran Duran concert t-shirt (from the Seven and the Ragged Tiger tour, I might add!). Class of '85!
Posted by: JC | April 24, 2009 at 10:29 PM
Ok = planning trip to site in NC (Woot!)...when I Google maps addy, it says Borders and you have Barnes and Noble listed. Wrong addy or wrong store?
Ask and beg you people; that's what NC fans did and we're on the tour now!
Posted by: Sara | April 24, 2009 at 10:17 PM
Can't wait to have you back in Atlanta. Macy's is still there and, if I remember, what with the end of the school year in plain sight, I will try to bring cupcakes!!
Posted by: teachergirl | April 24, 2009 at 08:32 PM
so here's the thing about Jen not coming to my/your city (although really, Toronto, come on, it's a global capital... but whatever)... WE CAN GO TO JEN!!!
My husband wanted to go to Chicago instead of NYC at some point anyway, and I "suddenly" agreed with him!
So, we will be there, new book in hand (apparently it's being shipped to me as I type) and I am deciding whether I should tuck/roll my white jeans, pink t-shirt with popped collar, and wear SUPER BIG hair... or wear something that later this year, I'll still be ok with looking a the picture???
VERY EXCITED!!!!

Equally bummed about no Indy visits. I'm a recent convert to the Church of Jen, and a child of the '80s (CHS Class of '83, ISU Class of '87 - HOLLA!). Was really hoping you'd swing by Indy since you're not far away. Pleasepleasepleaseplease add a date to the end of your tour! And bring Fletch! He needs to get his Indy on too!

What about NJ? The 80s were born in NJ! And no, New York City is not the same as NJ.
: )

Ummmm....Canada?? Specifically Calgary??
Posted by: Christine | April 24, 2009 at 05:51 PM
Heck yeah ... so glad you're coming to Seattle. Now, to plan my outfit ... a bridesmaid dress is perfect attire, no?
Posted by: jen | April 24, 2009 at 05:32 PM

Nonono this CANNOT be happening you just CAN'T be coming to Dallas the night of my advanced accounting final!
Screw it! I don't need my CPA!
(I'm only joking, tuition is expensive and I should just finish the class)
Posted by: cj waggs | April 24, 2009 at 04:52 PM
(Sniff, sniff) I'll so miss you this year since Colorado didn't make the list. Nothing even nearby! But I'll be there in spirit, raising a glass of Riesling with my twisty beads and and neon sweatshirt.

I'm just curious.... is all the whining about not coming to _________ annoying or flattering?
I'm guessing trying to plan a book tour when you're not in the Cult of Oprah, John Grisham, or some other similar douchebag is probably a lot harder than any of us realize.
I'll be living in two major cities this summer (currently in KC and moving to Austin this June) and won't be able to see you speak, but you know what? I hiked up my big girl panties and am going to dry my tears with pages from your new book.
Seriously though... annoying or ego stroke?
Posted by: Melissa Allen | April 24, 2009 at 04:44 PM
My friends, Emily, Lindsay, and I (the girl with the dog pee suede couch) will be at the one in ATL! We CAN'T wait! Is it really 80s theme? If so I'm sure we'll go all out!
Posted by: Liz Petty | April 24, 2009 at 04:35 PM
WTF!!! No Fort Wayne Indiana dates? I can't believe you can't get an Indiana date!
Posted by: Jeff Webb | April 24, 2009 at 04:14 PM
No St. Louis? Bummer. Maybe I'll drive to Chicago...
Posted by: Jessicca | April 24, 2009 at 03:44 PM
You are going to love the Americana in Glendale, CA. There is a Lacoste store just a few stores down from the Barnes and Noble.
Can't wait!

have you ever considered doing a book tour in Canada? I know id love to meet/see you!
Posted by: Myriam S | April 24, 2009 at 01:26 PM
I'm still a little bitter about the lack of attention paid to Kansas City...write another book real quick, okay, so then you can go on another book tour that includes a Kansas City pit-stop. Can't wait for the new book!
Posted by: Kate | April 24, 2009 at 01:23 PM
Woo! I'm SO FRIGGIN HAPPY you are coming to NC! I'm definitely making the 3 hour drive to see you, come hell or high water. I want to dress 80's, but considering I was only alive for 3 years in the 80's and I don't want to show up in a onesie, I may come in regular clothes. Please don't tell me I will be kicked out!?
Posted by: Sarah Elizabeth | April 24, 2009 at 01:11 PM
Alright! You're hitting DC and coming before the dark nights hits the streets and I can still make my bed time! Do you have slap bracelets too?
Posted by: Kristen | April 24, 2009 at 12:53 PM
I cannot wait to see you in San Fran in May! I'm trying to get a group of girls together so we can all join in on the '80s fun!

Ditto what Jenn Kelly said. It's almost summer. It's going to be 27C tomorrow. You won't freeze your leg-warmers and bubble mini-skirt clad ass off, promise!

From the BPL website today (http://www.bpl.org/news/UpcomingEvents.htm):
"Jen Lancaster -- Wednesday, May 6 at 6 p.m. in the Rabb Lecture Hall. It's 80s night at The Boston Public Library! Join New York Times bestselling author Jen Lancaster as she reads and signs from her newest memoir, Pretty In Plaid: A Life, A Witch, and a Wardrobe, or the Wonder Years Before the Condescending, Egomaniacal, Self-Centered Smart-Ass Phase. In Pretty In Plaid, Lancaster lays bare her history of wardrobe choices, both triumphant and scarring, with some very "key pieces" that have defined her life. Think back to what you wore in the 80's? Was it acid wash or perhaps a Members Only jacket? From childhood to adulthood, everyone has at least one item in the far-reaches of their closet that they wore proudly in the classroom, or office, only to look back years later and wonder: What was I thinking? Come dressed in your 80s best!"
I can't wait!
