Greetings from the brief respite between tour cities! I'm home just long enough to do some laundry, reset the TiVo, and inspect Fletch for all his digits.
He's not yet lost a finger to his wonky power saw, but I still have half the tour left, so... let's just hope if when it happens, it won't be his middle finger because then he wouldn't be able to properly express himself while driving.
(And yes, he says he missed me. Although he also learned to hang drywall while I was gone. Again, I don't imagine this will end well.)
I'm off to the west coast leg of my tour today, but before I remind you of tour cities, I have to say a big thanks to St. Louis, Atlanta, Philadelphia, and New York! You guys absolutely represented and it means the world to me to actually meet those responsible for my career. Thank you! (And Ilene S. - the Empire Cakes homemade chocolate covered Twinkie? TRANSCENDENT. Also transcendent? The excellent wine and the slutty brownies and the fine, fine company with my ATL tailgaters!)
In other old business:
- The bookplates are on their way for those of you who preordered.
- NAL is working to upload an new version of Jen X with the footnotes embedded so you don't have to click around. (My publisher and editor were really apologetic when they heard this happened as they'd both worked hard to make sure the fix was in place from the start.) When the new version is ready, I'll let you know. When that happens, you'll simply contact the customer service departments of Kindle, Nook, etc. and you'll get a free upload of the updated version. Ditto for any old ebooks you've purchased - all the backlist has embedded footnotes now, too.
- The dress I wore on Today/the book trailer came from Igigi.com, by way of my friend Stacey. She bought it two years ago and then lost weight and gave it to me. Her (weight) loss is my gain!
In case you missed some of the fun interviews I did last week, here are the links:
Philadelphia Inquirer (This one was particularly fun, even though Stacey outed me. Also, I should make it clear to Karyn that I meant we were both idiots, particularly me, as evidenced by my inability to safely feed myself.)
Today Show (Interview and article, which was pretty badass because I made the crew laugh)
And for the rest of the week, you can find me here:
Tuesday, May 8, 7:00 PM - THIRD PLACE BOOKS, LAKE FOREST PARK, WA
Wednesday, May 9, 7:00 PM - BARNES & NOBLE, CLACKAMAS TOWN CENTER, PORTLAND, OR
Thursday, May 10, 7:00 PM - BARNES & NOBLE, WESTVIEW PARKWAY, SAN DIEGO, CA
Friday, May 11, 7:00 PM - BARNES & NOBLE, WEST NORTHWEST HIGHWAY, DALLAS, TX
Full details, such as address and store guidelines, as well as other upcoming events are located in the Appearances section.
And finally, today, I'm sharing my Five Do's and a Do-Over here at Chick Lit Is Not Dead.
Now I have to check on Fletch. He's been in the basement for a while and it's quiet down there.
A little too quiet.
Thanks again and hope to see you this week!
